The short version
- Agree a specific version before starting.
- A skins tie and a Nine Point tie do different things.
- The worked example uses gross scores and points, with no money required.
Define the version, including ties
This original Nine Point version awards 5,3,1 for distinct low-to-high scores. Two tied for first split the first two awards into 4 each; two tied for second split the remaining four into 2 each; an all-player tie gives 3 each. Every hole still totals nine.
House games can use different conventions. Put the actual awards and tie treatment on the card. The definitions here specify this example rather than claiming every organizer uses them.
Compare what each game rewards
Carryover skins needs an outright low score. In the three-hole card, only the first hole has one; the last two skins remain unresolved under the stated end rule. Nine Point still allocates all nine points every hole.
The parallel-match example scores each player pair separately: one point for a hole win, half each for a tie. It is a separate house-points ledger, not the governing match score of an official three-player competition.
Choose the workload the group will keep
Nine Point needs one three-way allocation per hole. Skins needs a pending-skins count. Parallel matches need three pairwise records. Agree gross or net and the end-of-round unresolved rule before starting.
Use the full skins card or compare a four-player Wolf rotation when the group changes.
