MENA Golf Tour: qualifying category versus a place in the field
A MENA Golf Tour membership and a strong exemption category do different jobs. The category determines priority when tournament fields are assembled. For 2026/27, the qualifying venue also matters: the October amendment expanded England's allocation without turning the earlier three-venue baseline into a single new universal rule.

Four fictional status files- Fictional: an England boundary tie
- Alex ties fifteenth at the October England qualifier and finds the older top-ten article.
He uses England's amendment, which includes fifteenth-place ties in Category 3 rather than applying the old boundary.
Case 1 - Fictional: a different qualifying venue
- Ben plays the Florida qualifier and assumes England's later fifteen-card allocation covers his venue too.
He keeps the Florida result and applicable conditions separate; the England announcement does not change every venue.
Case 2 - Fictional: an England lower category
- Chris finishes within England's amended sixteenth-to-thirtieth band.
He identifies Category 11 and its lower field priority rather than describing it as the same position as Category 3.
Case 3 - Fictional: membership through invitations
- Dylan joins the tour and plans to seek invitations for selected tournaments.
He records membership and any actual invitation separately; paying dues is not itself an invitation or a confirmed start.
Case 4
These are invented illustrations, not player results or status receipts. Actual tour categories and tournament acceptance require official confirmation.
The short version
- Read the season and qualifier venue beside every category claim.
- England's October amendment differs from the August baseline.
- Membership, an invitation and confirmed field access are separate records.
Read category numbers as an order
The tour's August 2026 guide explains that fields are filled in category order. It separates winners and leading returning members from qualifying graduates, invitations and lower-priority members. A useful status record names the exact category and the basis for it. The word member alone leaves out the information that matters when a field fills.
Keep three records in the same planning file: evidence of the category awarded, membership confirmation and the entry or invitation for the particular tournament. If one is missing, label that step unfinished rather than assuming another document covers it. That makes it possible to plan around a real starting position without guessing how many players ahead will enter.
Apply the England amendment only where it belongs
The October 12 announcement expanded England's Category 3 allocation to the top fifteen including ties and Category 11 to sixteenth through thirtieth including ties. It removed playoffs at those two boundary positions. The amendment followed the earlier baseline, which had described top-ten and eleventh-to-twentieth bands across the three qualifying schools.
The change is a practical reason to preserve venue names with source dates. A finish at Dalmahoy, Florida or RAC cannot be interpreted by selecting whichever summary offers the best category. Where a status message and an older general article differ, compare the message with the relevant venue amendment and ask the tour to resolve any remaining inconsistency.
Plan entries after the category is clear
The tour announced October 22 as its 2026/27 membership opening, with the season scheduled to begin in Cairo on November 28. A calendar announcement establishes the intended season framework; it does not establish an individual player's membership, confirm an entry or show a live vacancy in a field.
For each proposed start, record the event, entry deadline, category, invitation if relevant and acceptance status. Keep travel planning tied to those distinctions. A player with lower priority can have a legitimate route to participation while still needing actual field confirmation; a stronger category should likewise be read with the tournament's current conditions rather than treated as a substitute for completing entry.
