Quebec Golfers and NCAA Records: DES, CEGEP and Dates

Quebec's NCAA record map starts at Secondary 3 and distinguishes several credential routes. Record what was actually earned and when; CEGEP enrolment alone is not the same fact as completing a named credential.

Check the division before using the academic rules

The course-approval and NCAA academic-certification discussion here applies to Divisions I and II. Division III schools set their own academic standards. For international Division III athletics certification, the Eligibility Center may separately request academic records to establish secondary-school graduation. Read the NCAA division-specific requirements and follow the tasks actually assigned for your case.

The short version

  • The Quebec profile maps year nine to Secondary 3.
  • DES and the named later credentials have different printed academic timelines.
  • Do not turn enrolment alone into an automatic graduation extension or athletics-clock ruling.

CASE 01

School history

In this fictional worksheet, the student records the actual Secondary 3 start, later school dates and any CEGEP enrolment dates.

The record begins at the profile's year-nine mapping; do not substitute Ontario's Grade 9 label without checking the system.

CASE 02

Credential earned

The worksheet records the exact credential title, program and actual issue or completion date.

A planned DEC or expected certificate stays in an unearned column until it is achieved.

CASE 03

Profile route

The September 2026 profile lists DES Tier One as an eleven-year expected timeline; named later routes have different printed timelines.

Compare the exact route rather than treating all CEGEP attendance as one rule.

CASE 04

Athletics and recruiting

Recruiting contact, admission, academic document review and athletics eligibility remain separate decisions.

A coach's interest does not settle a compliance question or replace an official academic record.

Original fictional record map, not a real student's chronology or an NCAA timeline determination. Academic credential tiers are not a blanket athletics-eligibility ruling.

Use Quebec's year-nine mapping

The September 2026 Quebec profile identifies Secondary 3 as year nine. Its DES Tier One route has an expected eleven-year timeline, expressed as three years or six semesters from starting year nine. Preserve that mapping when assembling the school history.

Record the exact school and qualification dates rather than translating the system into a familiar province's labels. The NCAA may request additional records. A complete preparation worksheet helps the school locate documents; it does not certify that the golfer has satisfied every academic or athletics requirement.

Name the credential before reading the timeline

The profile's AEC and ordinary DEC Tier Two entries show thirteen years; its Career Program DEC entry shows fourteen, while the named Pre-University Grade 12 route shows twelve. Those differences are why the exact program and credential matter.

The profile ties the specified advancement of expected graduation and core-curriculum limitation to achievement of the named credential. Enrolling in a program is not the same as earning it. Do not infer that every CEGEP enrolment automatically starts, resets or extends an athletics clock. An individual history and current athletics rules require the appropriate NCAA and college-compliance decision.

Keep issued and expected records visibly different

Use separate fields for the original-language record, any required certified English translation, result status and issuing body. The NCAA's international instructions require original-language documents plus certified word-for-word translations for non-English records; student-emailed versions are not the authorised submission route.

Place a predicted completion date beside the pending credential rather than in the earned-credential column. Then use the issuing body's official process and retain what was actually submitted. The broader international and Eligibility Center guides cover the surrounding steps; this page keeps Quebec's document and credential distinctions together.

What this page cannot tell you

  • This does not certify an individual’s NCAA eligibility, academic records, translation accuracy or college admission; the appropriate school and Eligibility Center must assess the actual file.
