Scottish Golfers and NCAA Records: Start at S2

Scotland's NCAA year-nine mapping is Secondary Two, or S2. Begin the record map there, then identify the exact Scottish qualifications actually earned rather than borrowing a GCSE-based checklist.

Check the division before using the academic rules

The course-approval and NCAA academic-certification discussion here applies to Divisions I and II. Division III schools set their own academic standards. For international Division III athletics certification, the Eligibility Center may separately request academic records to establish secondary-school graduation. Read the NCAA division-specific requirements and follow the tasks actually assigned for your case.

The short version

  • The Scotland profile starts year nine at S2.
  • For the stated modern credentials, the SQC and Summary of Attainment work together.
  • National 4 is not listed as accepted graduation proof; National 5 has a different treatment.

Start the history where the profile starts it

The NCAA's Scotland profile maps year nine to Secondary Two/S2. Record that start and the subsequent schools and dates accurately. The general international instructions call for records from year nine and allow the NCAA to request additional documents.

Use the educational system actually studied. A school address or a familiar English qualification label does not replace the Scotland profile. A clear chronology helps locate the right records without pretending that this guide has calculated the golfer's personal academic or athletics timeline.

Match the documents and the qualification tier

For credentials issued from August 2015 onward, the profile lists the Scottish Qualifications Certificate plus Summary of Attainment with five or more National 5 passes in separate subjects as Tier One graduation proof, with an eleven-year timeline.

The corresponding two-or-more Higher-pass route is Tier Two with twelve years; two-or-more Advanced Higher passes is Tier Three with thirteen years. Each refers to separate subjects. These are the profile's graduation-evidence examples, not a blanket statement that the student meets all NCAA certification requirements. National 4 examinations and SVQ Levels 1–3 are not accepted as graduation proof.

Keep future results and official submission separate

List the exact qualification, subject, result status, issue date and issuing source. Put intended or pending qualifications in a different column from attained ones. An expected certificate should not become an issued document because a coach or family has planned around it.

Follow the NCAA's authorised record-submission routes with the school and issuing body. Where non-English documents are involved, retain the original and required certified word-for-word English translation. The linked parent guides cover the broader process; this article keeps the distinct Scottish mapping and credential documents in one place.
