SCJGA Hootie or Players Series: Check Eligibility First
South Carolina’s 2026 pathway is not simply a choice to enter any lower level. Ranking exclusions and field selection rules can remove an apparently suitable option.

Three fictional ranking positions, three route checks| Situation | What changes | Next action |
|---|---|---|
| Boy ranked 30 | Inside the published top 50 Players exclusion and top 125 Hootie exclusion. | Check the appropriate stronger event’s actual entry route. |
| Boy ranked 100 | Inside the published Hootie exclusion but outside the top 50 Players exclusion. | Players field selection still applies; no guaranteed place. |
| Boy ranked 160 | Outside those two stated exclusion groups. | Age, membership, current ranking update and event acceptance still matter. |
| Girls and later seasons | The Players page gives a separate girls exclusion. | Do not transfer the boys numbers or 2026 thresholds into another category. |

The short version
- Hootie and Players Series have different ranking exclusions.
- Membership access is different from field acceptance.
- The published ranking thresholds are season-specific and can change.
Use the current published pathway
The 2026 How to Play page describes the reorganized year-round Hootie Series and separate Players and Major routes. It states that boys inside the top 125 HCF rankings are ineligible for Hootie, with that ranking group updated monthly.
For Players Series, it excludes boys inside the top 50 and girls inside the top 20, then describes field filling from the next ranking positions. These are the organizer’s stated conditions as checked, not a forecast for another season.
Read the fictional cases as eligibility screens
Rank 30 closes both illustrated development routes for the fictional boy. Rank 100 closes Hootie but does not by itself guarantee a Players place. Rank 160 clears those specific exclusions but still needs the rest of the eligibility and registration checks.
A numerical ranking alone cannot establish a start. Check age, correct membership, designated exemptions, field capacity and the organizer’s final acceptance.
Confirm the live ranking and event notice
The threshold groups can be updated, and event-specific exemptions have their own conditions. Do not rely on a screenshot from an earlier month or apply boys’ exclusions to girls.
Use first-event preparation and schedule planning only after the entry route is confirmed.
