STPGA Junior Links or Junior Tour: Where to Start?

Southern Texas PGA Junior Links gives an older beginner a different starting route from the more experienced Junior Tour. Age alone does not decide readiness.

The short version

  • Junior Links is described for ages 13–18 gaining experience.
  • Junior Tour is intended for skilled junior competition.
  • Read the series age date and declare-up conditions.

Start with the tour’s purpose

STPGA describes Junior Links for ages 13–18 who are new or want experience before Junior Tour, while Junior Tour serves skilled juniors in professionally run tournaments. That distinction gives an older beginner a route without pretending every teenager belongs in the most demanding available event.

The two players above are invented. Their readiness descriptions are discussion prompts for the organizer, not admission decisions or official score thresholds.

Check the series rather than a generic birthday rule

The FAQ uses series-specific age dates and separate treatment for Prestige. Its displayed Fall line contains a year inconsistency, so confirm the current series notice before relying on that line. Do not carry a 2026 date into a 2027 plan.

Moving between tours and declaring into another age group have regulations. Read those alongside the event’s hole count, yardage, caddie and pace conditions.

Plan one useful first start

Choose a manageable event and confirm actual acceptance, travel and withdrawal terms. Review the player’s experience afterward before expanding the schedule.

Use the first-event checklist and schedule planner to keep membership separate from an accepted event place.
