West Texas Amateur: Separate Eligibility, Division and Acceptance

The completed 2026 event named Texas’s Northern and Southern regions. Its title alone was not a West-Texas-only residency rule; division choice and an accepted place were separate questions.

Championship

84 planned places

The event conditions apply; this guide adds no unstated age threshold.

Senior

42 planned places

At least 55 on the first tournament round.

Super Senior

30 planned places

At least 65 on the first tournament round.

The organizer’s waitlist process could change division sizes. Meeting an age condition does not force a division choice or guarantee a place.

The short version

  • The 2026 conditions named male amateurs in Texas’s Northern and Southern regions, with Index 10.0 or less.
  • Senior and Super Senior minimum ages were 55 and 65 at the first tournament round.
  • Published division capacities were plans; the waitlist process could change their sizes.

Read the region wording, not just the event name

The eligibility panel names Northern and Southern regions of Texas. Do not narrow that to West Texas from the title or expand it beyond the organizer’s named regions. Use the applicable policies to resolve an actual residency question.

Ask four different questions

  1. Do I satisfy this event’s conditions?
  2. Do I satisfy the requested division’s age condition?
  3. Which division am I requesting?
  4. Has the organizer confirmed a place?

Keep the answers separate. The comparison adds no unstated minimum age for Championship and does not automatically assign an older player to a division.

A capacity is not a live availability count

The stated planned fields were 84, 42 and 30. The entry procedure allowed waitlist handling to affect division sizes. The chart therefore cannot tell a reader that a place remains or that a particular request will be accepted.

For a future application, keep the current conditions, requested division and organizer’s confirmation together. Do not replace that confirmation with the number shown in an old chart.

Keep the example in its year

The July 17–19, 2026 event is complete. This page does not establish next year’s field, an unstated division cut or guaranteed admission.

Compare the separate Texas Senior Amateur age timeline and the event-specific eligibility checklist before carrying a condition between events.

Frequently asked questions

Was the 2026 West Texas Amateur restricted to West Texas residents?
The published eligibility wording named male amateurs residing in Texas’s Northern and Southern regions. The event title alone should not replace that wording.
Did meeting a division age guarantee a place?
No. Division eligibility and field acceptance were separate. The organizer’s waitlist process could also change division sizes.
