Three gates on the ordinary qualifying routeMembership and entry
A fictional family joins the appropriate one of six districts and requests a Sub-District place.
Sub-District entry is first come, first served. Membership is not itself a qualifying finish.
Finish plus score
A fictional boy in the 14–15 division finishes eighth and scores 88. The published ordinary requirement is top 12 plus ties and 87 or better.
He meets the placement condition but misses the score condition. An otherwise identical 86 meets both for District qualification.
District to State
The player then competes at District, where that district/division has a published State allocation.
The highest finishers fill those places. A tie for the final State place needs the stated playoff; do not invent the allocation.
Round support
For players aged 8–13, the membership page requires a walking scorer aged at least 16 for every round.
Check the actual support requirement before entry. A player may be asked to withdraw without one.
Original fictional score comparison under the published ordinary 14–15 boys route. It does not award a berth, reserve entry or cover every exemption and alternate procedure.
The short version
- Published 2027 membership registration opens March 1, 2027 at 9 am; the page does not state a timezone.
- Ordinary District qualification requires the division's finish and score conditions.
- District qualification is not an automatic State berth.
Start with the right entry stage
The WJGA membership page publishes a future 2027 registration opening. That announcement is not an open-registration claim on October 24, 2026. Confirm the district and event before planning around a place, and check the official page for the opening's timezone rather than adding one yourself.
WJGA says handicaps are not used or required. Its membership scoring guidelines are therefore not a Handicap Index threshold, and they should not be confused with the stricter scoring requirements used for District qualification. Keep readiness, membership and actual event entry in separate rows of your plan.
Read both qualifying conditions
The ordinary qualifying table combines a placement limit with a score requirement for each division. The example shows why meeting only one is insufficient. Different divisions have different numbers; the youngest division's score is for nine holes from forward tees on a regulation course, not an eighteen-hole total.
Use the current official table for the player's exact division rather than applying the 14–15 boys example to everyone. The qualifying page also describes exemptions and alternates, including specified Washington State Junior Amateur District exemptions. The ordinary Sub-District route is not an exceptionless account of every permitted entry.
Keep a separate State-place record
After District qualification, locate the actual State allocation for the district and division. Record the published allocation, the event result and any final-place playoff outcome. A District place or an encouraging score does not establish that a State place has been earned.
Before each round, confirm the entry status, required walking scorer where applicable and the event instructions. Use the existing scheduling and registration parents for travel and entry administration. This page owns the progression and the two-condition qualifying decision; it does not reproduce the entire season calendar.
