For 2026-27 the MPA lists first practice on August 17, 2026 and the first match on August 26, with the state championships on October 9 (Class A) and October 10 (Classes B and C) at Natanis Golf Course in Vassalboro. A team may include any combination of boys and girls, and the MPA also holds separate boys' and girls' individual championships.

Girls may play on boys teams. The MPA lists golf as 'Golf (Coed)'. Its 2026 bulletin says a golf team may be composed of any combination of six boys and/or girls (girls on a team play from the ladies' tees), and that the MPA sponsors separate individual schoolboy and schoolgirl championships plus state team championships in three classes.

Maine Harvest Teams
Teams the MPA golf bulletin calls Harvest Teams start earlier than the statewide dates, with first practice on July 27 and first countable match on August 5, 2026. The bulletin does not say which schools are Harvest Teams.
New England championship
The New England Interscholastic Golf Championship is presented by the Council of New England Secondary School Principals' Association. Its 2026 notice allows 12 girls and 12 boys from each state and leaves each state association to decide its own qualifiers. Girls play Sunday, October 25 and boys play Monday, October 26. Entries are filed by each state's coordinator, not by players, parents or coaches. For Maine, the MPA's 2026 golf bulletin invites the top 10 individuals in each class from the state championship, plus ties, to the qualifier on Saturday, October 17. Each class's state individual champion qualifies for the New England championship automatically, and the rest compete for the final 9 boys' and 9 girls' places.
