West Virginia plays one golf season for boys and girls in the fall, and girls also have their own invitational. After the October 5, 2026 regionals, the state tournament is at the Speidel Golf Club Jones Course at Oglebay Resort in Wheeling: Classes AAAA and AAA play October 12-13 and Classes AA and A play October 14-15. The 2026 Girls Golf Invitational was scheduled for September 8 at The Links at Woodridge.

WVSSAC rule 127-3-24 covers golf for boys and girls as one sport, and girls play on school teams. WVSSAC has approved a forward tee for girls since the 1998 season, and the regional tournament rules set the girls' course at 85 percent of the boys' yardage. Girls also have their own Girls Golf Invitational.

Girls also have their own one-division event: girls regionals North at Green Hills on August 24 and South at Big Bend on September 1, 2026, then the Girls Golf Invitational on September 8 at The Links at Woodridge, Mineral Wells, 18 holes of stroke play from the ladies' tees with the top eight named all-tournament.
Regional alignment
Class AAAA plays a North and a South regional; Classes AAA, AA and A each play four regionals (Regions I to IV). WVSSAC's 2026 Championship Central lists eight qualifying teams and eight qualifying individuals not on those teams for each class.
