Golf decisions
Sea Pines golf: Harbour Town, Heron Point or Atlantic Dunes?
The three Sea Pines courses share a resort name but create different golf and booking decisions. Choose the course experience first, then check whether your accommodation carries the resort’s guest benefits and what the round actually includes. A Sea Pines address alone does not establish the same reservation privileges.

Four fictional visitor choices

Four fictional visitor choicesCASE 01
Fictional: a privately rented villa
A family rents a home in Sea Pines from an unrelated owner.
Confirm its actual golf benefits. The resort’s 2026 Guest Amenity Card description ties benefits to accommodation reserved through the resort.
CASE 02
Fictional: walking distance matters
A player hopes a riding cart can approach every shot at Harbour Town.
Its published cart-path policy differs from Heron Point and Atlantic Dunes. Ask about the current rule and the walking involved.
CASE 03
Fictional: a caddie budget
A visitor sees the recommended forecaddie gratuity and treats it as the complete service price.
Ask for the service charge and recommended gratuity separately; one does not establish the other.
CASE 04
Fictional: a large group cancellation
Sixteen golfers assume the ordinary forty-eight-hour cancellation rule covers their booking.
That policy expressly excludes groups of sixteen or more. Read the group’s actual terms.
Fictional comparisons using the resort’s written descriptions and policies. No course was played and no live quote or tee-time availability was checked.
The short version
- Compare Harbour Town’s shot-making, Heron Point’s risk-reward layout and Atlantic Dunes’ seaside setting.
- The published 2026 guest benefits apply to eligible accommodation booked through The Sea Pines Resort.
- Treat cart rules, caddie service, gratuity and cancellation terms as separate cost and mobility questions.
Choose the golf you want to plan around
Sea Pines describes Harbour Town Golf Links as a course emphasizing finesse and shot-making. Heron Point by Pete Dye is described through risk-reward holes, moving fairways, mounding and swales. Atlantic Dunes by Davis Love III has a seaside Lowcountry setting. These are operator descriptions, rather than an independently tested difficulty ranking.
Harbour Town has its own clubhouse. Plantation Golf Club serves Heron Point and Atlantic Dunes, so the course name affects check-in and the pre-round plan as well as the scorecard. Keep the exact clubhouse with the reservation instead of using the resort’s main arrival address as the golf destination.
Confirm accommodation status and movement
The resort’s explicit 2026 benefits section gives eligible guests a Guest Amenity Card after reserving accommodation through The Sea Pines Resort. It describes preferred golf rates and tee times. The page separately announces changes beginning January 1, 2027; do not assume the older benefits settle a later trip.
Harbour Town’s published cart-path rule is subject to seasonal change. Heron Point and Atlantic Dunes allow fairway access subject to day-of-play conditions. For Harbour Town guest rounds, the resort requires one forecaddie per tee time. Heron Point and Atlantic Dunes accept separate requests for forecaddies and walking caddies; arrange the needed service when reserving golf. Discuss the actual movement and service required rather than inferring it from the availability of a cart.
Ask for a complete round confirmation
The caddie page recommends minimum gratuities of $125 for a walking caddie and $50 per player for a forecaddie, while leaving gratuities discretionary. That does not establish the full service charge. Record the green fee, cart treatment, caddie charge, gratuity allowance, rentals and any access charges separately.
For ordinary reservations, the golf policy requires cancellation at least forty-eight hours before the tee time. A card secures the booking rather than acting as prepayment; late cancellation or no-show charges can apply. Groups of sixteen or more have different treatment. Confirm these terms alongside the course, date, player count and accommodation category.
