RTJ Trail Card Eligibility and Booking Windows

Start with eligibility, then choose a booking route. The current official pages support an eleven-day online window for cardholders, but disagree about advance golf-shop phone reservations.

Pick the eligibility case before the product

These are fictional route examples, not decisions about a real person's eligibility. Keep that question separate from whether the card would suit a trip.

Case 1

An Alabama resident

The published geographic rule includes Alabama residents.

Confirm the card terms and the particular course before deciding whether to buy.

Case 2

Outside Alabama, possibly near a Trail site

The published rule also names people living within 100 miles of a Trail site.

Ask RTJ to confirm your eligibility. This example does not measure an address or define how the distance is calculated.

Case 3

A visitor outside the stated eligibility

Do not assume visiting a Trail course makes you eligible for its card.

Use the public daily-golf route, or ask RTJ Reservations about a package or group visit.

The short version

  • Card eligibility is geographic; being a visiting golfer is not itself a qualification.
  • The online daily-golf window is seven days for public golfers and eleven for cardholders.
  • No comparable visitor-rate quote is established here, so this guide does not calculate savings or break-even rounds.

Use the online window the pages agree on

Public daily golf

Up to seven days ahead through the published online route.

Trail Card daily golf

Up to eleven days ahead through the website or app.

A booking window is permission to look that far ahead, not a promise that a particular tee time is available. The tee-time page directs longer-range package and group planning to RTJ Reservations; it describes package planning up to twelve months out. That route does not change the card's geographic eligibility.

Keep the phone-booking conflict visible

The current card page advertises ten-day advance booking at pro shops. The dedicated policy, effective June 1, 2026, instead directs advance reservations through the website, app or RTJ Reservations and says golf shops no longer accept advance phone bookings. It allows same-day shop calls subject to availability.

These statements do not establish a single verified advance golf-shop phone procedure. Do not choose whichever sounds more convenient or assume the card creates an exception. Confirm the intended route with RTJ before relying on it. Package/group contact through Reservations is a separate published route.

Read the fee and limits together

The 2027 card page lists $49.95 plus tax through December 31, 2026, then $54.95 plus tax. Its stated validity is October 1, 2026 through December 31, 2027. The same page limits Lakewood Club use to six visits; the date range does not mean unlimited use at every site.

Check the organizer's current site-specific terms before choosing a course. This page does not reproduce the entire benefits or rate schedule. A published card rate, on its own, is not a comparable visitor quote. The booking page's Public Rate label also does not establish the final applicable charge: that page says the appropriate rate is applied at course check-in.

Keep four answers on the same note

  1. Am I eligible, and has RTJ confirmed any geographic uncertainty?
  2. Which course, date and daily-golf or package route am I considering?
  3. Which booking instructions and site limits apply?
  4. What is the actual comparable quote, including its inclusions and restrictions?

If the last answer is missing, leave the savings calculation blank. For the broader ownership-versus-public-golf decision, read membership versus public golf costs. A single-player booking has its own tee-time questions; cancellation terms need a separate rain-check and refund check.

Frequently asked questions

Does a golf trip make me eligible for the Trail Card?
A visit alone does not meet the published geographic rule. Check the official eligibility wording and ask RTJ to resolve an uncertain case before deciding whether to buy.
Can I rely on ten-day advance golf-shop phone booking?
The official card page and dedicated booking policy conflict on that point. This guide does not resolve the conflict or promise a telephone booking privilege.
Does this guide show that the card is cheaper for my trip?
No. Without comparable quotes for the same course, date, inclusions and restrictions, there is no supported savings or break-even result here.

What this page cannot tell you

  • The official pages disagree about advance reservations by phone at a golf shop; that conflict is unresolved.
  • No like-for-like visitor/card price pair, savings figure, break-even threshold or availability is established.
  • The cases are fictional. No address was measured, residency certified, account created or booking tested.
