In Texas, boys and girls golf are both spring sports. Regional notes below cover exceptions.

In Texas, UIL lists golf as a spring sport for boys and girls, with regional tournaments on April 12-15, 2027 and state tournaments on April 26-27 (girls) and May 3-4 (boys), 2027. The UIL golf pages list no season start date; UIL limits each student to eight tournaments per school year, plus the district, regional and state tournaments.

Girls on boys teams

UIL runs separate girls' and boys' divisions and state tournaments. Section 1260(c)(6) says no girls' teams shall compete against boys' teams and vice versa. The UIL golf pages do not say whether a girl may play on a boys' team.

Invitational tournament limits
UIL lists golf under Spring Sports, and its 2026-27 golf dates list a district certification deadline of April 7, regional tournaments on April 12-15 and state tournaments on April 26-27 (girls) and May 3-4 (boys), all in 2027. Section 1260(e) limits each student to eight tournaments during the school year, not counting one district tournament of at most 36 holes, the regional tournament and the state tournament, and no more than two per school week. Students and teams may not represent a school in a golf tournament after the date of the state golf tournament.
