What to Bring to a Golf Club Fitting
A fitting is easier to judge when it starts with your current club and a clear shot problem. Arrive with context, not a promise to buy the longest result.

A fictional fitting brief with useful boundaries
Original worked example
A fictional fitting brief with useful boundaries- Current baseline
- Ava brings the driver she actually plays.
Record its build and ordinary shot pattern before comparing alternatives.
Case 1 - Goal
- Reduce the costly miss without losing useful carry.
Different from winning the single longest-shot contest.
Case 2 - Budget
- Assume a stated maximum all-in equipment spend.
Keep fitting fee, equipment, alterations and possible credit separate.
Case 3 - Evidence requested
- Carry, dispersion and ordinary misses under comparable settings.
Ask which data and specifications will be provided afterward.
Case 4
Fictional players, numbers and arrangements. No real booking, measured equipment trial or actual event policy is represented by the example.
The short version
- Bring the relevant current clubs and normal playing equipment.
- State a specific goal, budget and any physical limitations.
- Confirm the session scope and what records you receive.
Tell the fitter what decision you need
A driver replacement, iron gapping session and full-bag assessment are different scopes. Confirm duration, club categories, available brands, location and whether an outdoor or indoor session suits the goal. Titleist’s fitting resources distinguish its available fitting routes; each provider defines its own offering.
Bring the relevant current clubs, shoes and usual ball where appropriate. Report typical play, preferred shots and recurring problems honestly rather than changing your swing to impress the session.
Keep the purchase conditions outside the shot contest
Ask whether the fee stands alone, is credited against a purchase or has conditions. Confirm who builds the clubs, the proposed specification, lead time and any adjustment or return policy before ordering. A hypothetical credit should not be counted until it applies to the actual quote.
No equipment purchase is necessary merely because a trial produced a good shot. Compare the result with your baseline and the stated budget.
Request an explainable comparison
Keep normal misses and note settings, ball, fatigue and any excluded shots. Ask the fitter to explain why the proposed build solves the original task. One peak ball speed is not a complete fitting result.
For long-putter methods, compare broomstick and armlock contact. For transport decisions, use renting versus bringing clubs.
